About this Project
The Lynwood Correctional Facility is a minimum and midlevel security (Type I and II) criminal justice center serving Lynwood and the neighboring unincorporated communities of Florence, Fire-stone, Walnut Park, Willowbrook and East Compton. The complex consists of three double-tier housing towers, a food service facility, inmate medical center, crafts, and operations building, 525-vehicle parking garage with helipad and offices for the Los Angeles County District Attorney, the Public Defender, probation,
Superior Courts, marshal services and counseling and psychiatric services.
Superior Courts, marshal services and counseling and psychiatric services.
A consolidated field operation facility combines the Lynwood and Firestone Sheriff Stations operations. Three video arraignment courts serve the Compton Judicial District. The center is enclosed by a maximum-security building perimeter. The facility was designed to fit into the community, therefore there are no visible gun turrets or ex-posed barbed-wire fencing.
